High Council Bash is a concert featuring New Orleans rapper/producer NOLA B and many other artists from around the city. Hosted by local comedian Mark Caesar. 4. NEW ORLEANS FILM FESTIVAL

The New Orleans Film Festival has grown into an internationally respected annual event that attracts 20-25k people, 400+ filmmakers, and 240 films. It is the longest-running festival of its kind in the state of Louisiana and one of the largest film festivals in the South. 5. THE TIPPING POINT

The Tipping Point is an event based on Malcolm Gladwell’s theory of big differences being the result of small, sometimes unnoticeable, changes. Created by DJ RQ Away, it began with the idea of giving those seeking a good time an alternative to what he and his cohorts had come to know as a “regular” night out. 6. IN CONVERSATION WITH GABOUREY SIDIBE

For the first time ever, Slate’s Represent will be live at the New Orleans Film Festival! Join host Aisha Harris in conversation with actress and director Gabourey Sidibe to watch and discuss her directorial debut release, The Tale of Four. This 20-minute short film is a multilayered story inspired by Nina Simone’s “Four Women,” spanning the course of a day in the lives of four different women connected by their quest for love, agency, and redemption. Grammy-award winning rap artist, Lecrae, has announced ‘The Destination Tour, You’re Accepted’ this fall and he’s making a stop to lay his rapping prayer hands in New Orleans.
