1. DETROIT YOUNG PROFESSIONALS OPEN HOUSE + 10TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Celebrating 10 years of connecting like-minded professionals from around the Detroit metro area, the Detroit Young Professionals will be hosting its July open house and birthday bash at The Fountain Detroit, located in the heart of the beautiful Campus Martius Park. 2. CONCERT OF COLORS: DETROIT’S 25TH ANNUAL DIVERSITY FESTIVAL

What better way to honor this city’s diverse community than rocking to some dope music by local artists from around southeastern Michigan? Detroit’s 25th annual Concert of Colors diversity festival is a three-day celebration of the many ethnicities and cultures represented by the people of southeast Michigan. 3. RIVERFRONT RELAXIN’ – COMING TO AMERICA

There’s nothing like spending summer along the beautiful Detroit Riverfront. The second annual Riverfront Relaxin’ entertainment series is a free event featuring live music, food trucks, vendors and movie screenings under the stars. 4. ROOFTOP HIP-HOP YOGA

There’s nothing like spending a hot summer day on the beach, which is why every Friday until August 18, Absopure Water is bringing the beach to the heart of Downtown Detroit at Campus Martius Park. 7. HAMLET AT NEW CENTER PARK

Check out one of the most traditional plays in a non-traditional setting. For three days in a row, Shakespeare in Detroit will be putting on a free outdoor performance of Hamlet taking place at New Center Park. 8. SILENT R&B PARTY DETROIT

Urban Fêtes has returned to Detroit with the livest — and quietest — party wave held at The Annex in Downtown Detroit. 9. 2ND ANNUAL PURE DETROIT 5K EVENT

Go for a run or walk through Detroit’s beautiful and historic New Center and Boston Edison areas for a cause. The Pure Detroit 5K marathon starts at the Detroit Fisher Building, and 100 percent of the proceeds go to ROCK CF Foundation. Learn more here.
10. 1ST ANNUAL DETROIT BOOK FEST

Going to the library or bookstore is cool, but going to a book festival with food trucks and beer? Way cooler. Organized by the Detroit Book Club, the first annual Detroit Festival of Books is a free community event held at the city’s historic downtown Eastern Market. A variety of local food vendors will be there selling yummy eats and treats for you to munch on as you peruse a large collection of rare and used books to add to your summer reading list.
