1. DUDLEY SOUP’D UP POETRY SLAM
Tuesday, January 10, 2017 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Hosted at the Dudley Cafe. This is not an open mic and there is no feature. It’s straight slam! This is the last poetry slam with a Black president in office. Don’t miss it. Learn more here.

2. AFRO FLOW YOGA
Wednesday, January 11, 2017  6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m
Now offering this unique yoga experience in the evening! Afro Flow Yoga promotes healing, balance, peace and the elevation of all humanity through the practices of yoga, dance, rhythms, spirituality and cultural values of the African Diaspora. Learn more here.

3. BRUNCH FIT ZUMBA DANCE PARTY

Boston, get ready to dance! Brunches of Boston is partnering with the Z Spot and Stats Bar + Grille to present Brunch Fit Zumba Dance Party at The Z Spot Boston. Brunch Fit is part of Brunches of Boston signature events series providing both a fitness experience and brunch to attendees. 4. HARLEM GOSPEL CHOIR @ HARVARD

2017 marks the 30th Anniversary year that the Multicultural Arts Center brings together people from all around New England to celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through Joyful Noise, and the annual Gospel concert with the Harlem Gospel Choir. Learn more here.

8. THE BLACK COMEDY EXPLOSION
Wednesday, January 11, 2017  8:15 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
Hosted by Boston’s Own “Bad Boy of Comedy” Jonathon Gates & Friends. Starring an array of hilarious comedians from right here in Boston and also some well-known comics seen in some blockbuster films and also HBO’s Def Jam, BET’s ComicView, Comedy Central, Martin Lawrence’s 1st Amendment, Who’s Got Jokes etc. After the show we dance away our laughter with select DJs, such as DJ Smooth Bee, Chief Rocka Moe Dee and DJ Dex. 9. PROHIBITION PARTY AT MIJA CANTINA

10. THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS PLAY  
Thursday, January 12, 2017  7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Featuring music and lyrics by Broadway legends John Kander and Fred Ebb, and a book by David Thompson, THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS brings to light the shocking true story of nine African American teenagers jailed in Alabama in 1931 for a crime they did not commit. With an exhilarating and infectious score that mixes gospel, jazz, and vaudeville, the show flips the script on the classic minstrel construct to lay bare the fateful case that inspired the American civil rights movement.
