10 Houston Events for Black Professionals This Week

1. HAULYP GENERAL BODY MEETING
Tuesday, December 13, 2016, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Come out to the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals general body meeting to mingle with fellow professionals and learn more about the organization. This meeting will focus on health and wellness, featuring a panel of speakers discussing multiple health topics. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or packaged snacks to be donated to the city’s homeless. Learn more here.

2. YOUNG THUG FEATURING 21 SAVAGE
Tuesday, December 13, 2016, 8:00 p.m. – until
Young Thug is set to take the stage at Revention Music Center, bringing along fellow Atlanta native 21 Savage. The two hip-hop stars will be performing all of your favorite tracks, including music from their hit projects “Jeffery” and “Savage Mode.” Learn more here.

3. RAW: HOUSTON PRESENTS HOLIDAY RAWK 2016
Wednesday, December 14, 2016, 7:00 p.m. – until
RAW: Houston, an independent arts organization for artists, by artists, invites you to the season finale event, Holiday Rawk 2016, hosted by Maximo at Stereo Live. This ultimate arts experience will showcase over 50 arts of all crafts, including film, fashion, music, fine and street art, performances, hair, makeup, accessories and photography. Learn more here.

4. NAACP HOLIDAY RECEPTION
Thursday, December 15, 2016, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The Houston branch of the NAACP is hosting an open house holiday reception for NAACP members, family, friends and the general public. This fun and festive meet and greet will have food, music and spirits, hosted at NAACP Houston headquarters. Learn more here.

5. HBCU HAPPY HOUR AT MOSAIC
Friday, December 16, 2016, 5:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
Meet and greet with fellow HBCU grads at Mosaic Bar and Lounge to kick off your weekend. Take advantage of happy hour drink specials from 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. and a complimentary buffet from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. DJ Luscious Ice will be spinning old school hip-hop throughout the night. 6. HMAAC PRESENTS SANTA’S WORKSHOP AND COMMUNITY MARKET
Saturday, December 17, 2016, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The Houston Museum of African American Culture presents its first ever Santa’s Workshop Community Market to celebrate the holiday season while highlighting local small business owners. 7. DAY FOR NIGHT
Saturday, December 17, 2016, 2:00 p.m. – Sunday, December 18, 2:00 a.m.
Day For Night is a two day music festival experience, combining headlining musicians with immersive art installations and exploring boundaries of light, space and sound. 8. TRAP KARAOKE HOUSTON
Saturday, December 17, 2016, 8:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
The “user-generated concert experience” like no other! Trap Karaoke is coming back to town this week at Warehouse Live. 9. THE DOPE ART SHOW

Support talented singers, dancers, poets and painters at The dopeART Show 90’s showcase. This show’s theme is “Dreaming of a ’90s Christmas” in which artists will channel their inner-’90s passion into their performance art. 10. LOVELIFTED PRESENTS #THEGIFT
Sunday, December 18, 2016, 7:00 p.m. – until
Combining live music with charity, #TheGift concert aims to shake up Houston’s underground music scene and spotlight artists with a positive message. Hosted by Shabaz P and with sounds by 93.7 The Beat’s DJ Shante, the event includes performances by Prophessor Pete, J. Christine, EJ, Mike Red, Tishany, 2Swift, D’Juan Solar, Spyda and Thy Kingdem.
