Favorite Happy Hour and Why? I used to strictly be a Fat Black P******t (No, I’m not writing that word out. Go Google it if you’re so curious.) girl for years. Everything is half price (Yes, even top shelf.) until 8:00 p.m. But now I prefer a less crowded setting… enter Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar (551 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10176). Their happy hour lasts until 6:30 p.m. (even though the menu says 6:00 p.m.) with festive tropical drinks and wine for $7. They also have happy hour food specials, try the Ahi Tuna Tacos. They’re. The. Best!
Favorite Brunch Spot and Why? To be honest, I’m usually never fully satisfied with brunch. Why? Because you rarely get good food and unlimited drinks. So you can imagine my delight when I loved Agave’s (140 7th Ave S, New York, NY 10014) Mexican dishes and felt “it” after one of their margaritas.
Favorite Lounge and Why? I really had to sit long and hard about this one but then it came to me, Bedford Hall (1177 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11216) in Bedstuy! It’s set up like a library sexy professor’s office with bookcases and vintage photographs adorning the walls. Plus they have a weekend happy hour from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (It’s Black owned too!)
Favorite Date Spot and Why? Wine and conversation are my favorite first date activities and Barawine (200 Lenox Avenue, New York, NY 10027) in Harlem facilitates both! The white and black decor and cozy seating are a great place to get to know your future boo.
Favorite Travel Destination and Why? San Juan’s Santurce Arts District in Puerto Rico. Their “Avenue of the Arts” has the highest concentration of theaters, museums, nightlife, galleries, restaurants, and street art in the Caribbean! I also loved strolling through the neighborhoods observing the architecture near our hotel, Ciqala Luxury Home Suites.
Your City’s Best Kept Secret and Why? The Big Apple is full of secrets but my fave are the street fairs! I love hopping off the train into a new cultural experience. Here’s a list of the 2014 Street Festivals!
